HFMD

On Sunday, hubby notice Rahmat was exceptionally quiet and well behaved which is weird. Not his usual self to keep still for more than 30sec :) From there hubby suspected he might have a fever soon. True enough, roller coaster fever begins at night. We brought him to Doc on Monday and he diagnosed as suspected HFM case as Rahmat had ulcers in his mouth but no visible rash/blisters on his palm or feet. We quickly inform my in-laws and ask for their help to look after Ridzwan as we do not want to take the risk of Rahmat infecting his younger brother.

Unfortunately, the HFMD may have infected Ridzwan earlier because he was down with fever on Tuesday night. Brought him to the same GP and he could only say is he infected same virus as Rahmat and we were given Dhamol for his fever. Ridzwan conditions were worse than Rahmat. He refuses to drink his milk or any liquid. Worried of this and he kept crying, we brought to KK A&E on Thursday night.

The A&E was pack. Super pack! We thought “Oh shit! We definitely have to wait very long”. We register and less than 10minutes, Ridzwan name was called to one of the consultation room. The young doctor checked and informed Ridzwan is indeed having HFMD and need to be warded for observation. My Thursday and Friday night was spent sleeping on the chair with stiff neck after each hour of short naps. Well my backache and stiff neck is nothing compared to the pain Ridzwan have to go through :(

The pictures can tell you the story.

We were lucky that Ridzwan's conditions got better by 2nd day. He was discharged on Saturday and given MC till 30 April. Cool! Mummy get to stay home and look after Ridzwan.

After what we've gone through, my advice to all parents not to take any chances especially with HFMD still lingering around and more cases reported now. Once your child develope fever, ulcers in his mouth and loss of appetite, bring them to Doc. Don't wait for rash or blisters on their palm or feet. You may want to bring them to specialist child clinic instead of normal GP.
