Privacy

A friend recently asked whether I believe that there should be privacy of oneself even after you get married. My first reply to her was “No. There should not be any secrets between married couples. If you have nothing to hide, just let him know the password lor. So conveniently & ignorantly, I answered”

The question “got stuck” in my head. Today, I looked up the dictionary for its meaning –
Privacy: (1) the quality of being secluded from the presence or view of others. (2) the condition of being concealed or hidden.

I’ll stick to my first reply. Personally, I share all my account passwords and even my bank PIN with my husband. We share all passwords or rather; we “neutralize” our passwords. Initially it was difficult, to share and allow another person know so much and everything that involved my life.

Now, 6years on, I’m not too bothered if he has network account such as Facebook (or any new networking website) without me knowing the password. I guess it comes naturally once you have trust and faith in a person. You’re not so particular or sensitive.
